Volgens het onderzoek faalt 251.300.000 nieuwe restaurants binnen het eerste jaar, terwijl 601.300.000 binnen drie jaar failliet gaan. Dat komt omdat het, tenzij een restaurant stevig gesteund wordt door investeerders, moeilijk is om een solide klantenbestand op te bouwen. Bovendien kan het openen van een restaurant erg duur zijn, met kosten vari\u00ebrend van 250.000 tot 500.000 euro voor huur, personeel, voorraad, nutsvoorzieningen, enzovoort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ter vergelijking: de kosten voor het runnen van een foodtruck liggen veel lager. De grootste kostenpost is de truck zelf, waarvan de prijs kan vari\u00ebren van 10.000 tot 15.000 euro. Ook de lonen van werknemers kunnen een factor zijn, maar aangezien de meeste foodtruckeigenaren vier of minder mensen in dienst hebben, zou dat geen enorme kostenpost moeten zijn. Foodtruckeigenaren betalen ook ongeveer 2.000 tot 4.000 euro aan jaarlijkse verzekeringspremies, 400 tot 800 euro per maand voor een centrale keuken, duizenden euro&#039;s aan vergunningskosten en duizenden euro&#039;s aan initi\u00eble voorraad. De winstgevendheid van een foodtruck hangt af van het bedrijfsplan van de eigenaar, dat informatie moet bevatten over de locatie van de foodtruck, het geschatte aantal mensen dat de foodtruck in het gebied zal bedienen, het percentage van die mensen dat bij de foodtruck zal kopen, en diverse andere overwegingen.
